Why Are We Giving Up Free Speech?
A couple of days ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she wanted to use the 25th Amendment to create a commission to determine if the President is incapacitated and can be forced from office.
So I wrote a short note to a writer's forum, saying that without the 2nd Amendment, there can be no 25th Amendment.
Today I got a note from the forum moderator for violating the new policy against political comments. Now my future notes will not be published until, and unless approved by the moderator.
So I responded.
Because Madam Nancy is not inclined to enforce the 2nd Amendment, then she shouldn't be able to use the 25th.
I was lucky that I had not made the political post in China, I said, because I could now be in prison in China
The moderator claimed I was pushing the boundary.
Well, he's right. Writers have been pushing boundaries since moveable type.
I did not apologize for using free speech. After all, this isn't China, yet.
If we keep giving up free speech, then surely we will lose it.
